Terms of use
Last updated 19 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Afefe Creative, Lagos, Nigeria, which runs BasketBook. By creating an account you agree to them. We've kept them short and plain.
The service
BasketBook reads photos of your shopping receipts, saves what you bought and what you paid, and shows you your spending and price changes over time. It is meant for personal, household use.
Price
BasketBook is free during early access. If we introduce paid plans, we'll tell you before anything changes, nothing will be charged without your agreement, and you can always export your data.
Your account
- You must be 18 or older and give a real email address.
- Keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for what happens in your account.
- You can delete your account at any time from Settings.
Your receipts are yours
You own the receipts, photos and lists you put into BasketBook. You give us permission to store and process them only to run the service for you, as described in the privacy policy. We don't sell them and we don't use them for advertising.
Receipt reading isn't perfect
Receipts are read by an AI service. It is usually right on clear receipts, but it can misread faded, crumpled or unusual ones. You check every receipt before it's saved and can edit it later. Spending figures, price changes, suggestions and answers are worked out from what you've saved, so they are only as accurate as those receipts. Please don't rely on BasketBook as your only record for tax, accounting, refunds or legal purposes, and keep paper receipts you may need.
Fair use
Please don't:
- upload anything other than your own shopping receipts, or anything illegal or offensive;
- try to get into other people's accounts or data, or to break or overload the service;
- copy, resell or scrape BasketBook, or use it to build a competing service.
We may suspend accounts that break these rules. Where we can, we'll tell you why first.
Stores
BasketBook reads receipts from any store. We aren't affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any store whose name appears in the app. Store names belong to their owners.
Changes and availability
BasketBook is in early access and will keep changing. We work hard to keep it running and your data safe, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may change or stop features; if we ever shut BasketBook down, we'll give you notice and time to export your data.
Liability
BasketBook is provided as it is. As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect losses, or for decisions you make based on figures in the app. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under Nigerian consumer protection law that can't be limited.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Nigeria, and the courts of Lagos State will hear any dispute.
